Welcome to the Blog…

The 2006-07 girls basketball season begins for real this week and right along with it comes The Sixth Man, my first full-time foray into the blogosphere. So without further ado, here’s the idea behind this blog and what it will hopefully mean for you:
1. To make the girls basketball beat in the LoHud interactive. You  the hardcore player, parent, fan or coach  will now have a way to both discuss and learn some things about the local hoops scene, beyond the newspaper.
2. To put an unlimited amount of space at my fingertips to cover, discuss, analyze and rate your teams in more depth than ever. There will be my impressions of games and analysis of news. There will be top 10 lists. There will be awards. And I honestly will answer as many of your questions as possible.
3. And, last, to have a lot of fun traveling with you from here, the final days of the preseason, to here…

…the final days of the postseason.
In case you didn’t notice  although I’m sure you did  the above photo comes from high above the County Center. It was taken during the 2006 White Plains-North Rockland Class AA semifinal. It’s also representative of the view I hope to provide here, a different one than you’re used to seeing, or at least an extra one.
So are there any questions, comments, or thoughts? I hope so. That’s what I’ll be here for, from now all the way through March, when the gold ball, like the one you see at the top of this post, becomes what everyone’s talking about.
Check in soon…we’ll be back with more later.
