After a competitive first half, White Plains has been in control throughout the second half. The Tigers win 66-56, after a big third quarter, and will move on to the state playoffs for the third straight season.
Kim Adams led the way with 21 points and was named tournament MVP.
Kwinnyata Mercer had 22 points and 11 rebounds to lead Mount Vernon.
More later.

It’s gut-check time for Mount Vernon, which has started to fade since Nadia Duncan went to the bench with her third foul. Duncan sat the last 5:50 of the third quarter.
Kim Adams and Angelei Aguirre have both stepped up here, Adams with nine points and Aguirre with six in the quarter.
The Tigers scored 21 points in the quarter.
OK, more later, but Mount Vernon needs a huge fourth quarter.
***********************************
Even after one, now it’s even after two. White Plains switched to man-to-man and went on a 10-4 run to end the half. Nadia Duncan, who has 10 points and five rebounds, picked up her second foul and sat the last 1:10.
Kim Adams and Liz Flooks have just nine points combined and Adams has started the game 2 for 11. The Tigers will need more from them to win.
Despite forcing very few turnovers, White Plains has had success defending Kwinnyata Mercer. The semifinal hero has just five points – three on a deep 3 and the other two on a step back jumper over Flooks.
We’ll see if Mount Vernon can keep it up in the second half. Right now, the Knights look like a completely different team than they were during the regular season.
************************************
Could today be all-Mount Vernon? The Knights are handling White Plains defense. Nadia Duncan has 10 and has been a force inside.
White Plains has just switched to man to man. We’ll see how they do.
************************************
It’s 12-12 White Plains and Mount Vernon after a quarter. White Plains has trapped the Knights, but their guards have handled it pretty well. Nadia Duncan has six points, but it’s been Carece Moore off the bench who has emerged. She has four points in just a few minutes of action.
Quick start for Angelei Aguirre on the other end. She has six points and appears to be taking the initiative.
**************************************
OK, the Mount Vernon boys won resoundingly with a big second half after leading by just two points at the half. So now it’s the ladies’ turn. A good portion of the crowd has stayed behind for this one, which is nice.
OK, I have to run. Lowes Moore Jr. is about to sing the national anthem. Check back for updates as the game goes on.

I think the experience of White Plains, and their ability to handle the ball, and not allow the Mount Vernon press to fluster them were the keys to victory.
Congratulations to the Knights on a great season, you could see them improve every step of the way. They by far had the toughest road to the County Center and the finals, and are a class act. They will be heard from in a big way next year.
Of course congratulations to the Tigers who were a perfect 10-0 against the toughest league in the section. Good luck on the next step of the journey.
White Plains has a very good team and Mount vernon has a good one. GOOD LUCK in your march past section one.
