College 3-point line moved in ‘08…but not for the women

May

“Check out this story today about how the NCAA rules committee has decided to move the 3-point line back a foot beginning with the 2008 men’s basketball season.”:http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaab/news;_ylt=AnJftDMRYdlOcWBPaBeEm0c5nYcB?slug=ap-ncaa-3-pointline&prov=ap&type=lgns

This is like reading comprehension. After your done with the story, let me know the answer to two questions:

1. Is this a good idea?

2. Do you feel it flies in the face of equality that the NCAA will keep the shorter 3-point line for the women?

Let me know what you think.

josh, i could care less how far away the three point line is or how many different standards there are (college women, college men, international, nba). if it was up to me, i would eliminate the entire 3 point concept, as i think it has been bad for basketball. as for the equality issue, there isn’t one. the womens game is just an entirely different (and better) game. way more passing, more team-oriented offense, etc. and nobody can say that a different 3 point line is an issue when the women use a different size ball. it is just a different game. no reason to make them the same and no problem with rule changes affecting only the men.

I would prefer hemroids than watch a gilrs basketball match. To the writer saying its a better brand of hoops he must be over 50. You’d rather watch someone shoot a set shot then beating someone off the dribble and hit a pull up? Comon lets get real here folks!! I say move the line back to the nba range if the nba is the ultimate goal then go for it.

    dale,
i assume that dale is your last name, that your first name is “chip” and that your middle initial is “n”

If you like basketball, you appreciate and enjoy the girls game. If you think black hole Kobe-ball IS basketball, you have a differing opinion. Kobe-ball has permeated to the boys H.S. level, including godding up star athletes, one-on-five moves, and all that which makes watching Kobe-ball on the NBA level so boring.

  5. RICHARD MCHUGH-

THE WOMEN SHOULD HAVE AS LONG A THREE POINT SHOT AS THE MEN .THE NCAA IS NUTS AS USUAL.THEIR TOURNEY SHOULD BE EXPANDED TO INCLUDE 96 TEAMS .THE MEN AND WOMEN COULD PLAY DOUBLEHEADERS IF POSSIBLE. THE NIT ,WHICH THE NCAA OWNS NOW,SHOULD BE A FALL EVENT ONLY.WHAT ARE THOSE ECAC TEAMS DOING WITH THE MONEY THEY MADE FROM THE NIT SALE TO THE NCAA?
