Game 1: A good start for the Bears

November
29

Briarcliff beat Ossining 57-48 today in the opening round of the Scarsdale tournament and will face the winner of tomorrow’s Scarsdale-Preston game in the championship at 7 p.m. on Saturday.

The leading scorers were Briarcliff freshman Casey Heyda and junior Taylor Pescetti, who each had 15 points. What a varsity debut for Heyda…

I’ll have more on the game later. I have to write my story first.

  1. Sports Update

Caught the Dobbs Ferry – Blind Brook game tonight at the Irvington Tournament. Good to see that the Dobbs Ferry fans have as little class as in prior years. Hooting and hollering during BBHS foul shots—absolutely no sense of sportsmanship. The girls are out there doing their best, having fun and representing their school. The Dobbs fans do this every year. I was glad to see someone from the Irvington athletic staff finally confront them in the 4th quarter. Clearly the sportsmanship code announced at the start of the game does not apply to them. Hey, they paid their $2 admission and have license to say whatever they want. Their behavior is an embarrassment and despicable.

Josh , I think Coach Hamlin summed it up in the paper. This game was a Win/Win for Briarcliff no matter the outcome. If Ossining wins , well they should because they are a AA school,
if they lose they lose some face also. What personel did Ossining have on the court to close the third Q with a nice run? We may see more of that combo in the future.Congrats to the Bears. LETS GO O!! There is a great season ahead of you.

Actually, as long as the fans didnt say anything about an individual player, it is respectable. These girls just have to learn to deal with adversity with fans, its not disrespectful when no comments were made directly to any individual players, coaches, or spectators. I was there and that didnt happen
