Must-see games, Dec. 17-23

After last week (which was tremendous) the action slows down a bit this week. Still, we have an intriguing matchup in the Fairchester League and a couple key games with Dutchess schools in the spotlight:
Tomorrow, Dec. 18: Ossining at Beacon, 6 p.m.  Sure, it’s early. But the winner here has the best chance to win League II-North.
Wednesday, Dec. 19: Holy Child at RCDS, 4 p.m.  This game is officially been run through The Sixth Man hype machine too many times, so I’ll let the game speak for itself come Wednesday.
Thursday, Dec. 20: Our Lady of Lourdes at White Plains, 4:30 p.m.  It sounds funny to say it now, but Lourdes remains the last Section 1 team to beat White Plains.
Friday, Dec. 21: Peekskill at Mount Vernon, 4:15 p.m.  Maybe it’s the fan in me. But I have an odd curiosity toward this one. I guess it’s just the names on the jerseys. Still, should be fun seeing these two schools meet on the basketball court, even if no one named Jones is involved.
Saturday, Dec. 22: Pearl River at North Rockland, 5 p.m.  Rockland basketball fans should go into X-Mas break happy, as two of the three best teams in the county will meet.

Dobbs Ferry Vs Haldane
Ossining against Beacon should be a great game. Ossining won both last year and is playing a lot better than they did early on. After the Briarcliff game they were the top team in the Bandit’s “Pooper Poll” which is not a place anyone wants to be. After dismantling Lakeland they were exiled from the poll. Beacon has not dominated but are a very solid team.
Let’s get a Pooper-Scooper for the Bandit.
Once again the Bandit shows that he must be having trouble seeing through his mask. Although Ossining/Becan should be a good game, beating Lakeland is not a big deal. They have some size, but they lack experience and speed in the backcourt. I vote to put the Bandit on the Pooper Poll until he gets that mask fixed.
WOW missed the sstorm. But hindsight being what it is I’ll say questions answered, 20 to life in Sing Sing, case closed. Beacon and OLL by double digits. I don’t know Peekskill, Do they have anyone to make it interesting?
Does anyone know the outcome and score to the Albertus vs Burke Catholic game 12/15/07 it’s not posted? Thanks
Rockland Rocks…That game wasn’t reported to the paper so we don’t have the result.
Thank you Josh, I heard that Albertus lost, so I was wondering if this was true or not.
Albertus lost by 8.
Albertus lost by 8
From the newspaper out of Middletown:
Burke Catholic 53, Albertus Magnus 45
Megan Rufer scored 15 points for Burke Catholic, which outscored Albertus Magnus 16-6 in the final quarter of this non-league game in Goshen.
Emily Stallings and Shannon Gough each had 12 points for Burke (3-0).
Alania Walker scored 16 points with Megan Richards and Felicia DeCruz each adding eight for Magnus (3-1).
Albertus lost got outplayed badly in the 4th quarter, they play a very good AHA team tonight at Albertus, should be a good one.
kidding and COFO, after Ossining wins you had better not run and hide. You must come in and eat a healthy portion of crow ala poo. Peekskill has a great player in Roberta Sligh and a lot of young talent that is extremley raw.
Holy Child (6-0) versus RCDS (4-2) – two teams tied for third in the weekly rankings – should be an interesting pre holiday break matchup between two big players (Sophia A. and Alexandre OJ) and two fine programs. NOTE: While HC is averaging 50ppg, RCDS is at 31ppg…let the girls play!
Poo, I wouldn’t be shocked if the O wins … but please don’t say that a win over this Lakeland team is anything to write home about.
Take off that mask!
Beacon beat Ossining 60-47 tonight. What say you now, Bandit?
Magnus beat AHA by 63-34
POO POO BANDIT- where are you tonight with your great and almighty input? Ossining game lets go we need to know what went on? We know you were there.
Beacon won the game because they have a inside game were Ossining does not!
so who stood out?
Tancredi the amazing athletic junior had 18 hard earned points and Judy Abongo the center senior had 13 with many rebounds greaat game. Team Beacon should go along way!!!
As stated on another post the Bandit ate some poo alamode and it went down rough! Beacon is a very good team and the difference in the game was Ossining shooting horribly from the FT line(12/27) and giving up too many offensive rebounds. Abongo 13 Garrett 5 is all you need to know about this one.
Beacon is clearly the Class A front runner although Pearl River is playing pretty damn good basketball right now.
The Bandit needed a backrub and a hug after this one but Mrs. Bandit refused!
Bandit, I have to admit you’re a stand up guy for backing up all that you say. Were you at the Beacon/Ossining game?
And just an FYI to Josh and the Journal News crew, Beacon defeated JJEF in the championship of the Beacon Terrance Wright Memorial Tournament this past Saturday 52-47 so you can update your records. And even though they’re not a Westchester County school, I enjoy and appreciate reading your coverage of girls basketball that at times does include the Beacon girls team.
Somers tournament championship game was tonight, Tappan Zee vs Nanuet. Nanuet was in the lead the whole game winning 66-47, MVP to K.C. Jentzen with 26 points, Lauren Kahn received All Tournament, Tappan Zee All Tournament went to Jacqueline Pollack and Theresa Pagnani. Two very talented teams and congratulations to both of them they played hard. Nanuet’s record is 5-0 now
Thank you for the kind words Juice and yes the Bandit was in the house for Beacon/Ossining.
