OK, maybe not, but I have to admit we look pretty professional in that photo. Say you had a cousin in from Florida. He or she would never know Kevin and I were TV impostors from this picture.
Anyway, much love to those of you who tuned in last week. Our third segment was filled with phone calls, and I hope I can say the same tonight at 7.
As always we broadcast from 6:30-7 p.m. on RNN (Channel 6 or 19 in Westchester; 19 in Rockland; and 20 in Putnam). You can call us at 1-888-RNN-CHAT and Kevin and/or I will answer any question or respond to a comment you may have.
Tonight’s show will have a feature on the two sets of twins at Horace Greeley, the Millers and the Jacksons, who have helped lead the Quakers to a strong start. They are currently in position for a top 4 seed in the Class AA playoffs, thanks to starters who also happen to be sisters. I enjoyed hearing how the girls felt about their unusual bond, and how it has translated to the court.
In the second segment, we’ll have a piece with Briarcliff PG Alex Gulotta, followed by your phone calls. So give us a ring and let your questions/comments be heard. I’ll talk to you then…

Would it be possible to get a list of teams and records in each Class? 1-16
That would help in projecting Sections, I hate looking thru leagues to see and then trying to remember who is in what Class.
Mike…That is a difficult thing to do at this point in the season. To do it, you’d need the records for all the Dutchess teams, and you’d need the records for all teams against Section 1 opponents. (The overall record means nothing.) Then you need to apply the formula Section 1 uses to seed teams. It adds bonus points when teams from a lower class beat teams from a higher class.
I did this last February and predicted the seeds for each class. However, the process takes hours and requires extensive math. It’s really not something you can do accurately at this point in time. There’s too much time left in the season.
Do non Section I games not count?
Also, is the point system the harbin? or whatever, plus 1 for a win over team from 1 class higher? 2 points for 2 classes above, 3 for C over AA? AA has no point system right? All wins r equal in AA
MrMcHugh,
3 questions for you.
Do you remember when certain players couldn’t cross half-court in a girls basketball game?
Was Taft the president when you were born?
And, last but not least, are you the Poo Poo Bandit’s long lost great grandfather?
Max,
The base number is 4 – that’s for a win against an opponent of equal or lower class. Add one point to that number for a win each class above your own. Add all your win points then divide by the total number of Section 1 games ONLY. Wins outside Sec. 1 count towards the 8 needed for a playoff berth but are not counted towards your point total.
This can’t be called the Harbin system since there is no reduction for playing down nor is strength of schedule a factor.
I think the “equal conferencing” alignment is mostly to blame, it’s unfair to drop higher class teams down to allow them an easier schedule. Re-align the leagues according to enrollment numbers and take your lumps when your weak and enjoy success when your strong. That’s life.
This guy Harrington really knows his stuff but he neglected to say that it is called the Ricci system.
Hey Josh,
Why don’t you give Rich Harrington the task of coming up with the predicted seedings and have him post it on this blog. I think he’s informative and, god knows, he’s seen literally every section 1 team play this year. I run into him all the time. He loves the game and his kid is a pretty good baller for the Bulldogs. Also, Rich is one of the few people who uses their true name on this blog. He deserves all the props in the world for doing that.
Congrats are in order to Danny Ricci. 250 is a really nice milestone considering all the tough games he plays year after year. Danny has cultivated that program with the help of a few parents there in Ossning, especially Chris Awerdick, who coached at St. Ann’s teams for years and whose three daughters have contributed greatly to the Hoops program in the Big O.
How about Kenny Haskins and the solid job he’s doing quietly and without much fanfare this year at Haldane (13-0). It’s about time you gave Big Blue some props there Josh. They beat Brewster, who beat Lakeland several times, who beat Greeley…..well you catch my drift.
Lets keep it positive folks and stop making things personal!
Where’s the Bandido?
The Bandito is buried under Mahopac gym’s floorboards.
