Game 23: It’s ugly, but Ursuline survives Scarsdale in OT, 54-48

January

If Ursuline had a resume tape, it would not include footage of this one. Scarsdale just grinded it out, and nearly pulled off the upset over a tired and flat Ursuline team.

But…and this is huge…a win is a win. The Koalas were on their ninth life when Shannon Ray (above, #22), who had just hit her first basket of the game less than two minutes before, drained a step-back 3 to tie the game with 11 seconds left. The game went to OT, and Ursuline’s D held Scarsdale to just one point.

I’ll have more in a bit. I have to finish my story first.

  1. The Great Gazoo

Luke Vacarro is the coach of the year right now. I don’t see anyone out there that would get my vote, if I had one.

  2. Starbucks

Josh, you were right, Scarsdale IS a bubble team. This team may not have the best talent but they are always well-prepared and they compete.

  3. DOBBS FAN

GAZOO, THAT STATEMENT COULD BE THE BEST THING I HAVE READ ON THE BLOGS THIS YEAR. THOSE KIDS… THAT SCHED..YEAR IN YEAR OUT…THAT MAN SHOULD BE COACH OF THE YEAR EVERY YEAR…WHO LOVES YA..HAMMER!!!!!

  4. DOBBS FAN

P.S. PEOPLE JUST ASS/U/ME, THAT JUST BECAUSE KIDS IN SCARSDALE “HAVEE MONEY” THEY ARENT TOUGH KIDS THAT IS JUST FLAT OUT NOT TRUE DONT FORGET ABOUT THE “SLUMS” OF SCARSDALE EDGEWOOD.

  5. Stanley Marsh

Could this be the same Great Gazoo that used to limp into the gym with the Raiders? The “Master Stats Man”, The “Volunteer of the Year”, The “real genius behind the scenes”, The “Head of Scouting”, The “Little Hammer with the Big Headâ€??

    Is this that Gazoo?

  6. The Great Gazoo

Well Stanley it ain’t Bilbo Baggins!

  7. Eric Cartman

Is it Mr Adler or Principal Victoria?

  8. Stanley Marsh

The old “Gazoo” made Bilbo Baggins look like Johnny Depp.

  9. Wendy Testaburger

    Hey Gazoo,

Speaking of “looks”, I know that my Stanley is not the best looking guy around but did you ever get a look at the 2 guys who film the girls games for Scarsdale?

  10. The Poo Poo Bandit

I happen to know for a fact that the Bandit is the “Troy Donahue” of these here pages!!

  11. Smokey

Hey Poo Poo, cut it out. You probably look more like the Great Gazoo.

  12. V. Connie Swail

I happen to know for a fact that The Bandit is a stud muffin! I also know that the Great Gazoo looks just like the Great Gazoo and that is not a good thing! He’s married to one of the Lee sisters but I’m not sure if it’s Home or Ug???

  13. Stanley Marsh

I saw the two guys from Scarsdale. I think they are part of the coaching staff there.

They are like THE Think Tank of basketball. If they added the Great Gazoo and the Poo Poo Bandit they would win the Gold Ball!

  14. Troy Donahue

    Hey Connie,

The crowd at the Lakeland/Scarsdale game was scattered with “A” listers. Lots of Section 1 coaches (past and present) were on hand.

Also, the Poo Poo Bandit and the “Lee” brothers from Scarsdale. One was on the end of the bench and the other was wathing the game with the group from Scarsdale.

No sign of the Great Gazoo though, he must have retired.
