Final state rankings

As always, I pass along the final state rankings.
A few thoughts:
— Briarcliff (Class B) and Haldane (Class C) finish at No. 1. Naturally, since both are state champs.
— How Mount Vernon is not included in Class AA I simply do not understand. Beacon, Magnus and Blind Brook all made the cut, but the Knights did not. And…no offense to the other runners-up, but MV had the best season…unbeaten vs. Section 1 until losing in the championship by eight points. I just don’t get it. … Of course, I didn’t even mention the complete decimation in the Slam Dunk, one that included a convincing win over Jamestown, which finished the season ranked No. 11 (and ahead of White Plains).
— Magnus finished at No. 15. Funny, because they Falcons were good enough (or really close to it) to win a state championship.
That’s all from me. Your thoughts?

i totally agree with you about MV. in fact, i would rank them above WP, but i suspect that the top slots have to go to the team that advances in the sectionals. speaking of top slots, when will we see your last and final “top 10” for the year?
Congrats to all the area teams that made the list. But what about the fact that MRHS is not mentioned. First we’re not allowed to got to Federation, then we’re not even mentioned in Class B? I see that St. John the Baptist(CHSAA) was #2 in AA. Unfair as usual Josh. That’s my 2 cents.
Unless there was an earlier version of these rankings that came out has since been corrected, I don’t see the fuss about where Mount Vernon ended up (14) in the AA rankings. They were the Section I runner up and only finished two spots behind Section champ White Plains (12). Contrast that spot with Minisink (19) which was the runner up in Section IX to Kingston (5), who next beat Horseheads but then lost to eventual Public School champ Rush Henrietta (3) in the semis.
Josh,
Albertus was 0-2 against state Ranked teams in ‘B”, so a ranking of 15 is fine. Losing to Burke and Briarcliff
Remember Briarcliff had a relatively easy time with them.
Was a 12 point game 4 different times throughout the game.
Mount Vernon was ranked 22 because Section I ‘AA’ was weak this year. Although Jamestown was no way a better team then MV.
Josh: I agree that both Mount Vernon and Magnus should have been ranked higher. However, it’s easy to see how Mount Vernon ended up where they did in the rankings. The voters feel compelled to rank sectional champions over teams they beat for the championship, so Mount Vernon was destined to finish behind White Plains. White Plains, however, had only a 14 and 11 record and did not advance past the sectional championship, so there was no way it was going to rank in the top 10. Magnus is more difficult to understand. Briarcliff had a “relatively easy” time with them only because their best player spent half the game on the bench with foul trouble. That’s not to take anything away from Briarcliff, and fouls are part of the game, but with Walker in the lineup, there is very little separating the two teams, so there should not be 14 spots separating them in the rankings. On the other hand, the voters showed surprising sophistication in ranking Blind Brook third in the State, even though it lost in the sectional championship game. The voters were observant enough to notice that Blind Brook gave Haldane a much, much tougher game than the teams that Haldane later played, most of whom were routed by the Blue Devils.
Albertus was like the 6th hardest game Briarcliff faced all playoffs, which tells me they are not a Top 10 team.
That Simple!!
