Girls basketball in the Lower Hudson Valley

Sad news

June
18

Sad news today. Former Ketcham guard Lisa Moray was killed today in a car accident. Former Carmel star Meghan Wood was a passenger. She was injured, but was able to communicate with police on the scene.

Obviously, it’s a terrible story. It happened on the ramp from the Sprain Brook Parkway South onto I-287 East. If you know the area, you know it is a terrible ramp.

You can read about the accident here.

Good luck to Meghan in her recovery and condolences to the Moray family. Very, very sad news.

On behalf of the Hudson Valley Knights AAU Club, the Section 1 Girls Coaches Association, the Empire State Games Girls/Womens Basketball teams and really, all of us who knew Lisa Moray and Meghan Wood and watched them grow up, I would like to extend our sincere condolences to the Moray family and a full recovery to Meghan Wood. Al Viani, who coached both of them at the AAU Nationals just a few years ago, emailed me this morning and stated that he was in shock over what has happened. Al and I often traded stories about these two talented ladies and he truly loved them very much. May God bless them both!

My deepest sympathies go out to the families of these young ladies. This is tragic. You are in my prayers..
