Harrington to St. Thomas Aquinas

August
25

I heard yesterday that Irvington point guard Riley Harrington has committed to St. Thomas Aquinas, a Division II program in Sparkill, NY.

STAC needs little introduction to Rocklanders out there. The school has long been a destination for local players. Harrington will join a roster that currently houses FOUR former LoHud-area stars: Kaitlin Page of Pearl River, Theresa Dowling of Clarkstown North and Natalie Catavero and Bianca Kowgios of Maria Regina.

Harrington, a senior, has played varsity ball since eighth grade. She was named all-section as a junior and helped lead the Bulldogs to three straight trips to the County Center, including an appearance in this year’s Class B final against eventual state and Federation champ Nanuet. They are certainly a top contender in Class B again this winter.

There should be a few other commitments during the final weeks of summer. I know a few other girls were close.

If you, your daughter, or your player (from the Class of 2010) has plans to play ball in college, please shoot me an e-mail and let me know.

UPDATE, 8:31 p.m.: Some of the info in this post was updated. (For ex. Bianca Kowgios will play for STAC this season.)

Riley, I have watched you play since the third grade during CYO and AAU. You were a stand-out since then. You deserve this opportunity as much as anyone I have know. I wish you all the best.

Congratuations Riley! I think you have a great fit there. Great school, campus life, terrific basketball program and your Dad doesn’t have to drive so far to yell his patented plea to the refs “Come On Fellas”. I wish you sucess on and off the court. GOOD LUCK!
