The revolution will not be televised

March
26

And neither will Nanuet’s Federation games. Josh is off today, but I wanted to give everyone the heads up that neither of Nanuet’s games this weekend will be broadcast live on Mogulus. If you want to see it you have to head up to Glens Falls. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Snow wipes out most of the schedule

January
10

UPDATE: Just heard from Tuckahoe that the girls tournament was played.

Yet another huge game involving Albertus Magnus will have to wait. Snow pushed back today’s battle with Pearl River to Feb. 1. You’ll recall that snow also canceled Tuesday’s tilt with Briarcliff.

Much of today’s action was wiped out, including another big one between rivals Mahopac [...]

Irvington beats Nanuet in OT

January
8

It’s been a tense couple of days for Irvington. On Tuesday the Bulldogs lost a nailbiter to Pearl River. Today they went to overtime against Nanuet. But this time they managed to pull it out, 55-53. Maybe they have Tuesday’s game to thank.

Having such a tight contest fresh in their minds, a game where every [...]

Late foul lifts hands Irvington its first loss

January
6

A great game lived up to its billing at Pearl River today as the Pirates knocked Irvington from the ranks of the unbeaten, 56-55. The difference was Nicole Grossbard’s free throw with 35 seconds left. The freshman guard rebounded a Taylor Wilson miss and went back up with it, drawing a foul. Riley Harrington missed [...]

North Rockland’s first win, and other Monday results

January
5

It may have taken a B team to get it done, but North Rockland finally got into the win column. Amanda Babcock had 12 points as the Red Raiders beat Ursuline B 51-28. There are now just five teams left that have yet to taste sweet, sweet victory.

In the biggest game of the day, Ossining [...]

Moylan on top of the mountain

January
4

Is Lorraine Moylan the best basketball coach in Rockland County? Is she the best ever in Rockland County? You can argue that forever. Some people on the blog have already started. What can’t be argued is that the Pearl River coach has more wins than anybody in the history of the county in boys or [...]

Power rankings and notes

January
4

In Westchester/Putnam, Josh’s rankings stayed the same for this week because not much happened. His notes include a look at Lakeland without Tori Jarosz and a peek ahead at Tuesday’s mega clash between Braircliff and Albertus.

In Rockland, Nanuet took a dive off the rankings thanks to the loss to TZ, which replaced them thanks to [...]

What’s wrong with North Rockland?

January
1

A lot of people have been asking that during the rough start. How could one of the biggest schools in Section 1, a top program year after year, a County Center team in 2008-09, still be winless on Jan. 1?

Some of these struggles were expected. Six-foot center Mary Abrams, the offensive focal point, moved onto [...]
